    I think that it is a female cat-face spider. The females are 2 x as large as the males Araneus gemmoides, They are considered harmless and have low-toxicity venom. A. gemmoides are useful natural predators for insects. We have seen these orb making spiders outside on window sills this time of year too. The enlarged female will lay eggs in a silk covered sac and the eggs will overwinter and emerge in the spring but the adults die before winter comes.
