Using This Site

Getting the Most out of This Site

Most of the information on this site is published through journals posted by members. Knowing a few tricks can help you find things easily.

  • Selecting a link under the Journals menu will take you to journals relating to the main topics: Flora, Fauna, ID Me, History, Geography, and Agriculture. So will the Journal Categories area on the right side of the pages. Click on the Continue Reading link at the bottom of the entry to read the entire post.
  • The Recent Journal Posts area on the right side of the pages lists the 20 most recent journal posts from all topics.
  • The Journal Tags area on the right side of the pages will take you to all journals that use that tag–for example, selecting “bird” will take you to all posts that have info about birds.
  • You can also use the Search link at the top right of the page to search for posts containing specific words or phrases—for example, “calypso orchid” or “spring migration.”

The top menu also contains link to pages with additional resources.

  • The Locations page suggests some places to visit.
  • The Students page has some resources for K-12 school or home projects.
  • Programs will be updated when new public programs are announced.
